Historical Machine Embroidery Design - Mid-18th century Pocket -

This listing is for a machine embroidery design for a mid-18th century pocket decorated with trailing floral vines and berries. This design is based on an extant example in LACMA#39;s collection, shown in the 4th photo*.

This design comes in 7 parts, which must be aligned to create the full design. I recommend stitching it in Lana wool blend embroidery thread for the most authentic period look, as you can see in the sample photos.

I make every effort to ensure that my machine embroidery designs evoke period hand embroidery techniques, and are well-researched so you can use them with confidence on your historical costuming projects. They may copy the wobbles or slight flaws in an original design, to help keep them from looking too perfect and modern. They may contain details that you are not used to seeing in modern machine embroidery designs, such as more color changes or jump stitches between areas. All my files are accompanied by a detailed description of the original design as well as stitching instructions and thread recommendations so you can get the most out of these designs.

You will receive a detailed PDF along with the digital files needed to stitch out this design on a wide variety of embroidery machines. The PDF contains historical notes, embroidery and sewing instructions, and a pattern for cutting out the pocket layers.
